The Story of Tara Fine Jewelry Co., Inc. (From the Sep/Oct issue of Gwinnett Magazine)

They're two friends who wanted to do something together - both with a background in jewelry, but with different perspectives. Buddy Anderson knew the manufacturing side of things, while Eddie Hazan was in importing. "My dad was a jeweler, and I grew up in the business. Eddie was about 14 when he started his career hanging signs in booths at the Atlanta Jewelry Show. When we met in 1985, he was an international gold importer. Our different-yet-the-same backgrounds seemed ideal for a business venture," said Anderson.

So the two Atlanta natives started Tara Fine Jewelry Company with a 525-square foot store in Buford, GA. "Buford looked like a good area with great opportunities," said Anderson. "At first, it was only the two of us. Now we have 24 employees, not including ourselves, and our own building." Anderson and Hazan offer jewelry for discriminating tastes. As one customer said,"If you want something really nice, you're going to go to Tara." As their clientele's demands have changed over the years, Tara has grown with them, giving them the finer pieces as well as trendy and classic items. "The trend today is for platinum jewelry. When we started the company, people wanted gold chains and charms. We're constantly adding new brand names to our selection," said Anderson. With a tremendous amount of loyal customers, Tara has third generation clients buying from them. "My dad had customers that came to us after he died. Now their children are buying engagement rings from us,"said Anderson.

Tara Fine Jewelry also donates to many civic and charitable organizations such as the American Cancer Society, The Boy Scouts of America, and many others. This is just an example of how Tara benefits not only its customers, but also the community around their store location. Continuing to grow and expand, "its no wonder that Tara Fine Jewelry was a finalist in the Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year Award. "We've built our company around 'real' customer service and finer quality merchandise.
